Philosophy of care: I believe team-based healthcare is the most effective as it allows us to work together towards common goals. My role on that team is to make sure that I have provided data and given my recommendations so that each person is able to make informed decisions that fit best for their lives. I believe we can be happier and healthier if we work together to find solutions that are specifically individualized for each patient.
Personal Interests: My happy place is out in the woods with my husband and our dogs. Gardening is a past time I truly enjoy although the transition to Pullman soil from my home Iowa soil has been…a learning curve. I enjoy multiple sports with volleyball being my favorite. I love trying new foods and exploring the world through my stomach! When I am not outside or traveling, I can be found in my favorite corner of the couch watching terrible reality television.
Why did you decide to become a Family Medicine MD: I decided to pursue medicine while on a college research trip to the Dominican Republic where I was studying water quality. I found myself drawn to the people that needed medical attention and I knew that I wanted to serve by providing medical care in my future. From there, I explored multiple specialties in medical school, but most of all, I continued to desire the life-long relationships that Family Medicine provided. I was interested in all people, at all stages, so knew Family Medicine fit me best.
Additional Information: I grew up on a small pig farm in Iowa. Perhaps because of my childhood, I am passionate about preserving the environment and caring for animals. My “thinking spot” when I was a child was in the back field by the creek (which I pronounce “crick”) that was often home to beavers, turtles, deer, and crawdads.

Philosophy of Care: I have strived towards meeting patients wherever they may be in their lives. Everyone is living their own life, with a unique circumstances, different values and aspirations. I want to create a safe and open environment to care for patients as whole individuals, not just lab values, test results, or previous diagnoses. I want to work together with my patients, their families, the care team and other providers in the community to create the best personalized healthcare plan possible.
Personal Interests: Currently, life outside of the residency program is full of my kids’ activities. Whether it’s basketball or baseball games, gymnastics meets or dance recitals, you will see me out in the community regularly. Our family enjoys traveling and taking our trailer out camping all over the Pacific Northwest. I also love cheering on the Washington State University Cougars (Go Cougs!). My husband and I enjoy trying every restaurant we possibly can throughout the Palouse. But when I do have some downtime, I really enjoy reading and love getting new book recommendations
Why did you decide to become a Family Medicine MD: I was always drawn to science, even at a young age. The way our bodies are built and function is still fascinating to me. I decided I wanted to practice family medicine after spending time in college working with a full-spectrum family medicine physician in Chelan, WA. I love the variety that family medicine brings, and the opportunity it provides to truly get to know your patients. I see family medicine providers as the experts in organizing and maintaining health for their patients.
Additional Information: I grew up on a farm in central Washington (Kittitas, WA), which helped me develop on appreciate for rural life and agricultural communities. It’s also one of the reasons I wanted to return to, practice medicine, and raise my family in the PNW. After years of living near Los Angeles and Seattle, I’m especially thankful for Pullman’s lack of traffic and outstanding schools for our kids.
During medical school, I was a coordinator at the Montclair Clinic in southern California where I helped train other providers and care for the homeless. I enjoy going on medical missions; I’ve spent time in Guatemala, Honduras, Ecuador – and I hope to serve in many more places into the future.

Why did you decide to become a Family Medicine MD: My desire for family medicine started at a young age when I lived in a rural region in Lagos, Nigeria. We had little/no access to health care and I saw the effect it had on the community. My desire to pursue family medicine was solidified after the passing of my father. Witnessing my father’s medical journey, I learned that comprehensive care and preventative management can have profound outcomes on an individual’s prognosis, morbidity and mortality. I want to be a physician who emphasizes preventative and evidence-based practices to ensure positive patient-centered outcomes.
Personal Interests: Body building, poetry, music, football, rugby, and soccer.
Additional Information: I am excited to train in Pullman because of the welcoming environment of the staff, amazing support of the community and opportunity to practice medicine in a rural setting. I pictured myself in Pullman.

Why did you decide to become a Family Medicine MD: As a young teenager, I fell in love with biology and was amazed by how the human body works. I grew up in a small town where there weren't a lot of options for specialty medicine, so the family medicine physicians did a LOT. I like family medicine because I value a meaningful connection to the patient and their families to help build rapport and provide a space space for full spectrum care. I am also passionate about inclusive healthcare, preventative medicine, pediatric care, and women's health.
Personal Interests: Board games, attending concerts and live music, anime, spending time outdoors.
Additional Information: I want my patients to know that they can always ask questions. I strive to create an environment where patients can stop me if they're feeling confused or don't understand something- medicine can be complex, I want to help simplify it!

Why did you decide to become a Family Medicine MD: I have always felt drawn to family medicine. Family medicine is filled with opportunities to develop relationships with patients. Not only is connecting with patients something I enjoy, I believe that it is necessary in order to provide optimal care. The opportunity to work with patients on resolving a wide range of concerns was another reason I was drawn to family medicine. I am passionate about empowering patients to take control of their own healthcare, and family medicine provides the perfect opportunity to do so.

Why did you decide to become a Family Medicine MD: The most appealing aspect of family medicine to me is the ability to grow with your patients and really work on building long-term physician-patient relationships. I also love that family medicine, especially in a rural area, is kind of like a "jack of all trades" field. I love the versatility that comes with it. Family medicine is also unique in the sense that patients can more or less choose their primary care physician. It puts the onus on me to be a great doctor and an even better person; that's what medicine is all about.
Personal Interests: Watching and playing almost all sports, martial arts, cooking, and eating.
Additional Information: I have always wanted to work in a rural area, but Pullman is much more than JUST a rural area. I have heard nothing but great things about Pullman and its community. Having the privilege of training at a critical access hospital will also be a great opportunity to learn and get many unique experiences that will only make me a better doctor. I am also excited to be back in a small town where almost everyone knows each other. Those who haven't experienced that before really don't know what they are missing out on!
