It’s time to grow. Why? Because a healthy community depends on a vibrant hospital.
“Expanding is absolutely necessary, and this plan will allow us to provide better access, reduce wait times and limit traveling for specialized healthcare. Thank you, Pullman, for believing in us so we can keep caring for you.”
Matt Forge
CEO Pullman Regional Hospital
Since first opening its doors on Bishop Boulevard in 2004, Pullman Regional Hospital has expanded its healthcare services to accommodate for a growing community, advanced technologies and evolving trends.
Since 2004, Pullman Regional Hospital has:
- Increased surgical volumes by 35%
- Added 12 clinics
- Witnessed a rise in annual emergency visits from 7,000 to over 14,000
With an emphasis on the patient experience and operational efficiencies, the Patient Care Expansion Project includes a same-day universal room concept allowing for greater flexibility to meet the surges in emergency visits, post-procedural recoveries, and observation while reducing patient movement and risk for errors. The Universal Care Unit aligns with a shift in trends from inpatient to outpatient visits and allows for an increase in patient volume without the need to utilize the hospital’s 25 inpatient beds – the maximum number of beds allowed for a critical access hospital.
Furthermore, increased surgical capacity enables Pullman Regional Hospital to recruit specialists who have a passion for practicing rural medicine while allowing more space for state-of-the-art technologies.
“Investing in state-of-the-art surgical technology and, most importantly, people, has elevated our reputation and volumes. It’s time to grow.”
Dr. Edwin Tingstad
Orthopedic surgeon and Chief Medical Officer
Pullman Regional Hospital is delivering on community and patient promises.
The first phase of the Patient Care Expansion Project includes:
- Emergency Department and surgical expansion
- BirthPlace security and technology upgrades
- Renovation of nurses’ stations in the Medical/Surgical unit and relocation of services in preparation for Phase 2
“Emergency room visits continue to rise nationwide, and Pullman is no exception—we’ve doubled since 2004. Our emergency team of physicians and nurses takes immense pride in our ability to deliver award-winning care with minimal wait time – typically less than 5 minutes. Right now, that care might be provided in a hallway. We want to do better, and expanding is the key to serving our community at the level they deserve.”
