We're expanding to meet the growing needs of our community.

Our region is growing and we're growing with it.

Every year, an increasing number of patients and physicians choose our 5 star facility for same-day services and outpatient medical care. Since opening the new hospital in 2004, outpatient cases in Same Day Services have doubled and more recently, the volume of outpatient cases have grown by 42 percent in the past five years. More procedures are being done on an outpatient basis as care is becoming increasingly streamlined.

To meet this growing demand, we're building a 10,000 square foot permanent addition to the back of the hospital located between the ICU and Emergency Department.  The number of same day patient rooms will expand from our current 12 to a total of 22. The addition will be equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment and all surgical patients will have their pre-operative visit in the new space.

“The expansion will allow us to meet a growing trend to provide outpatient services in healthcare,” said Jeannie Eylar, Chief Clinical Officer.  “The additional space will increase efficiency, provide enhanced room layouts and patient experience to one of the busiest areas of the hospital.”

Same day services include:

  • Infusions
  • Transfusions
  • Endoscopy
  • Epidurals
  • Chronic pain management
  • Pre-operative appointments
  • Radiology procedures that require anesthesia

Dana Srikanth, R.N., is the director of Same Day Services, who has worked as a nurse in patient care, clinical quality and management for more than 20 years.  Srikanth said she is excited for the expansion.

“We are going to have more space to accommodate patients, bigger, more private rooms and a more efficient room setup," she said.  "We'll be able to separate non-surgical procedures from surgical procedures,” she said.

The average number of Same Day Services patients is 25-30 patients per day. Volumes can reach as high as 45 patients in one day. There are 29 Same Day Services staff, including 18 licensed nurses; 5 supplemental, 3 clinical support staff and 3 administrative staff.

Srikanth said the staff does a “phenomenal” job working within current space limitations. In the third quarter of 2017, over 96% of patients gave us a 9 or 10 on a 10-point scale for overall patient satisfaction of Same Day Services.

Construction on the addition will begin in summer 2018.
