FOUNDATION BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Wayne Druffel and the Druffel family have been a strong philanthropic partners, advocates and volunteers for Pullman Regional Hospital over the past decade. Wayne co-chaired The Next Era of Excellence fundraising campaign, which raised over $7.5 million for Pullman Regional Hospital, as well as over $1 million for the COVID-19 Emergency Fund.

The Druffels established The Norm & Jessie Druffel Family Endowment in 2015 which helps support the hospital’s Orthopedic Center of Excellence and the Regional High School Athletic Training Program. Wayne, his brothers, and son Kurt, own Norm Druffel & Sons, one of the largest wheat and grain producers in Whitman County. Wayne is also an accomplished bowler, being inducted into the Washington State Bowling Congress’ Hall of Fame in 2005, and owner of Zeppoz Bowling, Restaurant, Sports Bar and Casino.

Karlene was born and raised in Montana and has lived in the state of Washington since 1978. Karlene graduated from Montana State University with a degree in Communications. She enjoyed her career at Washington State University as Director of University Events and spent the last several years at Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories. She retired in early 2019.

Giving back to the Pullman community has been one of Karlene’s passions and she is excited to be part of the Pullman Regional Hospital Foundation Board. Currently she serves on the Pullman 2040 Leadership Training committee as well as the Town-Gown Collaborative. She is a board member for the Pullman Regional Hospital Women’s Leadership Guild and a member of the Kiwanis Club of Pullman.

Karlene and Craig, owner of Palouse Design Associates, enjoy spending time with friends and family at Diamond Lake, WA, golfing, and supporting WSU Cougar athletics. They have two adult daughters and five grandchildren.

Adrian is a Credit & Financial Analyst at Moonstone Bank. Adrian was raised in Palouse, WA, where he was active in sports, FFA, FCCLA, and ASB to name a few. 

Adrian is excited to be a part of something so special at the Pullman Regional Hospital Foundation, and has always made it a priority to give back and help improve where he can.

Graham is a Business Services Officer at P1FCU's Pullman branch. He has called Pullman home since 2015 and serves the community through active membership in Rotary and the United Way of Whitman County. As the son of healthcare professionals, Graham has held lifelong values rooted in accessible and affordable healthcare. He seeks to pursue his passion for service to the community through his role on the Foundation Board.

Brandon Burch retired in 2019 after 30 years in Information Technology at the WSU College of Veterinary Medicine. He and his wife, Marilyn, are longtime Pullmanites. Marilyn retired in 2019 after almost 40 years as the Director of Nutritional Therapy at Pullman Regional Hospital. Brandon volunteers at the Pullman Depot Heritage Center, the WSU Lutheran Campus Ministry and Trinity Lutheran Church.

Ken and his wife Dorothy have lived and worked in Pullman since 1967. Ken was a well-respected faculty member at Washington State University for decades. In addition to his faculty role, Ken wore many hats for WSU Athletics as faculty representative, PAC-10 president, and NCAA liaison.

Ken was a member of The Next Era of Excellence campaign cabinet, where he helped the Pullman Regional Hospital Foundation secure large gifts as well as committed his own to the Orthopedic Center of Excellence expansion. Ken currently serves on the 5th Quarter Rally event committee to support the Regional High School Athletic Training Program.

Pete Chittenden is the Managing Owner and Chief Operating Officer of DABCO Property Management in Pullman Washington. Pete joined DABCO Property Management in 2019 after spending 17 years in property management. Pete’s industry and community service roles have included being a two-time winner of the AHMA Managing Agent of the Year Award, which came back-to-back in 2012 and 2013 and works within multiple volunteer services for non-profit organizations. Pete is currently the Vice President of the United Way of Whitman County, serves on the Government Affairs Board with the Pullman Chamber of Commerce, and volunteers with the Washington Department Fish and Wildlife.

Pete and his wife, Cindy, enjoy spending time with their son hiking in the mountains, camping, or up on campus at a WSU game with their daughter as she continues her education as a 2nd generation Coug.

Richard Emtman, M.D. retired from Pullman Family Medicine in 2015 after practicing both clinic and hospital patient care for 30+ years. He mentored students, was active on hospital committees and now is a part time WWAMI medical student instructor and serves on the PRH Physician Leadership Council. His wife, Kathleen, serves as a Patient Support volunteer for the hospital. Recently the Emtmans established the Physician Leadership Endowment through the Foundation to support local physician leadership and well-being initiatives.

Kirstin is the Business Manager for Health & Wellbeing at Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories. Kirstin started with SEL in 2012, supporting the vice president of Human Resources. During her role as an executive assistant, Kirstin had opportunities to work with many employees throughout the company, including Corporate project and event planning, participating in cross-functional teams, and working on our Manufacturing floor. Prior to coming to SEL, she worked as an office manager at an accounting firm and as a counselor for juvenile and family court. Kirstin loves to challenge herself in all endeavors, whether managing projects and events or running half marathons. In her spare time she enjoys frequenting the local farmer’s market and hiking on the beautiful Palouse with her husband (Tim, former Foundation treasurer), daughter, and two goldendoodles. 

Ty Meyer is the Agricultural Production Manager for the Spokane Conservation District. Ty and his team help Palouse farmers do everything they can do in order to further soil conservation, quality of water and agriculture, and continue to have production practices that will be sustainable into the future. He grew up on a farm in Colton, WA, that raised wheat, canola and chickpeas. He graduated from Washington State University with an agriculture business degree.

Ty and his wife Kay run the historic Red Barn Farms event venue in Colton, as well as Gone West RV park in Uniontown.

 For 20 years, Karin served as the WSU Foundation’s Director of Foundation Relations, retiring in 2024. Karin worked in the non-profit sector most of her career including ten years at the Community Action Center in Pullman. Karin served as the WSU Organizational Director with the Foundation for two years, and upon her retirement transitioned to a traditional director role.

Karin grew up in Sweden and got her master’s degree from the University of Gothenburg. She worked as an English teacher in China and Japan in the 1980s and became a resident of Washington State in 1990. Her two sons were both born at Pullman Memorial Hospital on the Pullman campus and she is a proud Coug Mom. In her spare time, she loves to travel to foreign countries with her husband Bob.

As Business Operations Director at Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Erik leads, organizes, and motivates diverse teams improving culture, processes, and results.  Erik has over 30 years of global business experience in accounting, finance, sales, customer service and management across several industries with 23 years at SEL. Erik grew up on the Palouse, graduating from Garfield-Palouse High School and earning a degree in accounting from Washington State University. Additionally, he is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Valuation Analyst. Erik joined the Foundation board because he loves being part of the community and has a keen interest in healthcare.  

Tony is currently the Executive Director of the WSU Alumni business network CougsFirst!. He is a serial entrepreneur who's most recent company, College Hill, was named to the Inc. 5000 fastest growing privately held companies in the U.S. He is passionate about all things WSU and really enjoys working with Cougs every day and co-chairs the Pullman Chancellor Advisory Council, sits on the WSU Foundation Board of Advocates, founded the Pullman Young Professionals group and is past President of the Pullman Chamber of Commerce. He enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife, Emily (WSU '14) and sons Jack and Tyler. If he's not in Pullman you can usually find him on a river or lake in North Idaho, a golf course, or traveling in a foreign country. 

Amy Rogers and her husband Justin have lived in Pullman since 2002 and own Cornerstone Properties. Amy graduated from Washington State University in 1999 with a degree in Business Administration and Real Estate. After working in the real estate industry in Spokane for a few years, they moved back to Pullman to start their business and raise their family. Amy and Justin have three teenage children that attend Pullman Schools. Amy loves to be involved in the Pullman community and enjoys volunteering at the schools and her church.  She is very involved in the Pullman Regional Hospital Foundation Golf Tournament and the Regional High School Athletic Training Program.

Jerman retired from Washington State University in 2016 after 29 years, serving variety of roles as professor and administrator in the College of Business and the Provost’s Office. A world traveler and teacher specializing in international entrepreneurship, Jerman and his wife, Margie, have called Pullman home since 1987. He is looking forward to further engaging with the hospital with his new role on the Foundation Board.

Marcia Saneholtz had a 28-year career as an Administrator at Washington State University, where she was a part of the Cougar Athletic Department through campus-defining and transformational periods. She was a guiding force in WSU’s transition from separate men’s and women’s athletic programs to one unified athletic department in the early 1980s. Saneholtz played a crucial role in WSU Athletics’ transition to an on-campus health care partnership with the university’s health and wellness and counseling services, as well as developed and managed WSU’s student athletic training program. Three times, she served as Interim Athletic Director at WSU and received numerous national honors for her work as an Administrator, including the NACWAA National Administrator of the Year. Marcia golfs in the Pullman Regional Hospital Foundation’s Golf Classic each year with her team, Title IX. Marcia previously served on the Foundation board during the building of Pullman Regional Hospital in the early 2000s.

Dave Williams is an Electrical/System Engineer by trade. He worked in the aerospace, semiconductor, and federal government industries, and retired in 2016. His late wife, Ann, was a longtime hospital volunteer (winning the Volunteer of the Year award twice). He has since “picked up” where she left off, volunteering at Pullman Regional Hospital several times per week, as well as Circles of Caring. Dave is passionate about giving back and volunteering in the Pullman community.
